As Fearless returns, Envy leaves to venture new opportunities in life.
Envy Retires
Envy, also known as Lee Kang Jae, has publically announced his retirement from the Dragons. “Shanghai Dragon” is the name for a very respected team in China. It is the property of NetEase, a Chinese technological Company. This company initiated its business by distributing blizzard games. Presently, it hires members in gaming teams to win competitions globally. One of these teams is Shanghai Dragons.
Envy, along with the Dragons, has been successful in participating in the Los Angeles Valiant in the first Overwatch League Season. Soon after his acquittal in the team, he was released in April 2018. However, last November Envy announced that he had been allowed to look for new opportunities. After the official news of his departure this weekend, Envy announced his retirement.
This Is What He Said
Hi. I’m out of the team this time, and I’ve decided to retire. During the four years of professional gaming, I had a lot of hard work, I had a lot of fun, I learned a lot. I will not forget what I learned while I was a professional gamer, but I will learn something else now

It is evident from his recent tweet that said:
“Hi. I’m out of the team this time, and I’ve decided to retire,” He added on further,
“During the four years of professional gaming, I had a lot of hard work, had a lot of fun, and learned a lot. I will not forget what I learned while I was a professional gamer, but I will learn something else now.”
In return, the Dragons responded by thanking him for all the hard work and for being a part of their breakthrough last season. They also wished him the best in the future.
As the journey of Envy is put to a halt, Fearless has returned. As they say, One of the Overwatch Lords, in exchange for the other tank.
Fearless is Back
Fearless, aka Leo Eui Seok, resides in South Korea but has established himself in the Shanghai dragons. He took a break from competitions for 11 months due to a health condition that was not disclosed to the public. Even though he may be quite fearless, the tanker needed his rest. So he can recover and return at his best health to perform well.
In his place, his substitute Gamsu played this season. However, he left the team, along with four others after the off-seasons. Fearless has been playing for the team CC, which is the Dragon’s academy team.
Highlights
He officially began his career in 2017. It was when he qualified as the 1-8th position in the Overwatch Apex Season 4, which was online. From then onwards, he has participated every single year with his position getting higher and higher. It goes to show his persistence and improvement. Recently, in the 2020 season 1 of overwatch contenders, Fearless bagged the 1st position, which indicates he has fully recovered and back on track for more.
He has also changed teams from Element Mystic to Shangai Dragons to Team CC until finally returning to Shangai Dragons again.
Even though Fearless belongs to South Korea, he is working with a Chinese company. This fact has a fascinating history associated with it. The Chinese teams were loosing at a streak, thus resorted to hiring players from other countries. One of them being Fearless.
Shanghai Dragons even have a coach that is from South Korea. He is known as BlueHas in the Overwatch community. If you look at the active members this season, Shanghai has only ONE member from China. The rest are from South Korea. It provides a great insight into the popularity of videogames and Overwatch in South Korea.
Unlike many cultures, Esports is considered a sport in Korea. It is not just a destructive hobby or habit.
