The spectacular technology of Unreal Engine has not only given birth to the most fascinating games, such as Final Fantasy VII Remake and Fortnite, but also virtual Kpop idols named MAVE. Here’s a glimpse into MAVE, the Kpop girl group that recently gained attention by taking over the Kpop gaming collaboration.
MAVE Kpop Girl Group: A Collaboration of Unreal Engine and MetaHuman
The Kpop gaming universe has recently been filled with various exciting collaborations, featuring the new Kpop girl group, MAVE. However, unlike your ordinary Kpop idols, the members of the MAVE girl group do not actually exist in reality. That is because MAVE is a recent addition to the Kpop industry, breaking the trend with its unusual origin: a virtual Kpop girl group existing in the Metaverse.
Debuting in January 2023 with a song that immediately became a Kpop trend, “Pandora”, Kpop group MAVE captivated many fans with their stunning visuals and outstanding girl-crush concept similar to BLACKPINK and aespa.
But most importantly, what made fans turn their heads in awe towards MAVE members was the unbelievably fluid and natural movements of their dancing and facial expressions. For the first time since League of Legends’ K/DA, fans discovered a virtual Kpop group that appeared almost real
With such an imaginary concept and unbelievably real design, it was as if MAVE was breaking boundaries between the virtual universe and reality.
Dominating the Kpop Gaming Collaboration with These Amazing Games
The ability to cross the blurred line between the two worlds was why MAVE has recently taken over the Kpop gaming collaboration.
Unlike League of Legends’ K/DA who first started as a skin project for the game, MAVE is a real virtual Kpop idol with their own fandom, lightstick, and even participated in various Kpop showcases.
It’s been just over six months since their debut, yet MAVE has already collaborated with several games. Here are all the games that have formed a wonderful collaboration with the Kpop girl group MAVE.
1. Modoo Marble
The first Kpop gaming collaboration that the MAVE girl group landed was with Modoo Marble.
Modoo Marble is an online strategy board game where you roll the dice to obtain resources and build your characters to fight against other players. In this exciting breakthrough masterpiece, players will engage with 3 other players. And throughout the game, they will attack and defeat each other in real-time as the game progresses.
Currently, Modoo Marble is available only in Korean, with no decision yet on a global release.
In its collaboration with Kpop girl group MAVE, the game invites players to join the Kpop idols in adorable dance challenges with Modoo Marble characters.
Not only that, characters from other games even joined the dance challenges with MAVE, including Seven Knights 2 and Blade & Soul Revolution.
2. Blade & Soul Revolution
The second game that formed a collaboration with Kpop girl group MAVE was Blade & Soul Revolution.
Back in April, Blade & Soul Revolution released a new original class, the Qi Blade Champion. At the same time, the game also created exciting content collaboration with Kpop girl group MAVE. They created a whole new village where players interact with the NPC to receive a 5% increase in the battle EXP, the MAVE: Village.
3. Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross
Finally, the most recent game that formed a collaboration with Kpop girl group MAVE is the Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross.
In this gaming collaboration, the leader of the Kpop girl group MAVE, Zena, entered the world of Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross as a playable character. She gave players a totally different experience with her specially designed-skills and gameplay.
A New Project by Netmarble: Hit or Miss?
So, did you notice a common thread among the mentioned Kpop gaming collaboration games?
Indeed, these games were all developed by the Korean gaming company Netmarble. In fact, MAVE is actually a Kpop girl group produced by Metaverse Entertainment, Netmarble’s affiliate agency specializing in metaverse-related businesses.
Along with creating various amazing games, Netmarble is planning to spread its wings to the entertainment world by creating its very own Kpop idols. They collaborated the Unreal Engine technology with MetaHuman, resulting a completely different masterpiece.
Previously, Riot Games conducted a similar experiment by releasing the K/DA Kpop group using their existing champions: Ahri, Akali, Kai’Sa, and Evelynn. However, the group’s promotion was only limited to the League of Legends franchise.
Still, the Netmarble new project, MAVE, has since received mixed reactions from fans. While some believe the Kpop girl group has been terrific, others feel that Netmarble is pushing the group too aggressively within their games.
But what are your thoughts on Netmarble’s use of the Unreal Engine for this breakthrough? Was it a hit or miss?
